The European Cyber Internship Programme is an ECSO initiative designed to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and job seekers in the field of cybersecurity. This programme aims at fostering employment in cyber and mobility in Europe. This program offers a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience, develop critical skills, and build professional networks within the rapidly evolving cyber sector.
ECSO and the Women4Cyber Foundation are developing a framework to foster collaboration between academia and the private sector and promote entry-level positions in the cybersecurity sector, while ensuring career opportunities for young graduates.
By filling out this form, you’ll be considered for a variety of internship opportunities, including both technical and non-technical roles within the field. We’ll match you with the most relevant opportunities based on your profile and interests: https://forms.gle/NLpm6SXv1F4ADtGV6
By completing this form, you will be part of an exciting initiative that connects your organisation with top-tier students and professionals across Europe. We look forward to supporting you in finding the next generation of cybersecurity talent: https://forms.gle/UhmMrC83eLYgsY657
If you have any further questions, you can always contact: annesophie.vanvaerenbergh@ecs-org.eu.
To participate, simply fill out the expression of interest form available on the Road2Cyber platform. The form will ask for details such as the country of placement (or remote), the number of interns you wish to offer, job specifications, and other relevant information.
Any organisation that is looking to offer internship opportunities in cybersecurity within geographical Europe can apply. This includes companies offering remote internship positions. Form for internship providers: https://forms.gle/2XCVASobc8yjEt747
Once your application is received, ECSO and Women4Cyber will curate a list of internship seekers whose profiles align with your organisation’s requirements. You will be provided with this list, from which you can select candidates.
ECSO and W4C are not directly involved in the contract between the job provider and job seeker. The contract is managed internally between the two parties, but ECSO and W4C will maintain communication with both throughout and after the internship for ongoing support and to monitor the success of the programme.
While the programme encourages fair compensation, there is no specific requirement for internships to be paid. However, offering paid internships is highly recommended to attract top talent and ensure a positive experience for the intern.
ECSO and Women4Cyber will offer continued support by staying in contact with both the internship provider and the intern, collecting feedback, and ensuring that the internship experience is beneficial for both parties.
After the internship has been completed, ECSO and Women4Cyber will reach out to gather feedback on both the candidate and the overall experience. This feedback is essential for improving the programme, showcasing success stories on social media, and monitoring the success of the programme (i.e. number of placements).
Anyone seeking an internship opportunity in cybersecurity within geographical Europe is eligible to apply. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including women, neurodiverse individuals, people with disabilities, and others.
You can apply by filling out the dedicated form available on the Road2Cyber platform. The form will ask for details about your skills, qualifications, career aspirations, and location preferences. Form for internship seekers: https://forms.gle/KK99R7pKQNF9B4s37
Once you submit your application, ECSO and Women4Cyber will review your profile and match it with available internship opportunities from participating organisations. If a match is found, we will connect you with the internship provider, who will then manage the next steps, including the progress of your application and the contract if you are accepted.
While we aim to match internship seekers with suitable opportunities, filling out the form does not guarantee that you will secure an internship. However, we will make every effort to find a good fit for your profile and preferences.
Your profile will be stored for one year. After that, if you are still interested in finding an internship, you will need to reapply. ECSO and Women4Cyber will reach out to you before the one-year mark to confirm your interest.
Yes! If you secure an internship, we invite you to join the Talent Pool on the Road2Cyber platform (if you haven't already) and remain in contact with ECSO and Women4Cyber for further career support. You may also be invited to share a testimonial about your internship experience or participate in our mentorship programmes.
No, the programme is completely free for internship seekers. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to connect with internship opportunities in the cybersecurity field.
After completing your internship, ECSO and Women4Cyber will reach out to you to gather feedback about your experience. This helps us improve and monitor the success of the programme and share success stories through social media.
If you secure an internship through another channel, we still encourage you to notify us, so we are aware and can make a note of it. We value your feedback and want to know how you are progressing in your cybersecurity career.

ECSO was created in 2016 as the contractual counterpart to the European Commission to implement Europe’s unique Public-Private Partnership in Cybersecurity – cPPP (2016-2020). Building upon the success of the cPPP, ECSO is today the unique European cross-sectoral and independent membership organisation for cybersecurity that gathers and represents European public and private cybersecurity stakeholders and fosters their cooperation. Members of ECSO include large companies, SMEs and start-ups, research centres, universities, end-users and operators of essential services, clusters and associations, as well as the local, regional and national public administrations across the European Union Members States and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
