Job description

The position is permanent with a legal status of a civil servant for life (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit) to be filled by the earliest possible starting date. The research topics of the successful (f/m/d) should include methods for the analysis, design and resilience of secure and privacy-enhancing intelligent systems in companies, with a focus on modeland data-oriented attacks, such as:

  • Algorithmic fairness, transparency and robustness
  • Adversarial machine learning
  • Business models, products and services for cyber security
  • Organizational security and supply chain security
  • IT security management
  • Cryptographic tools for security and privacy
  • Security, privacy and robustness of machine learning
  • Usable security and privacy, human-centered security
  • Privacy-enhancing technologies
  • IoT security and privacy
  • Threat intelligence

as well as corresponding application-oriented issues, with a focus on value creation within and between companies and organizations. In addition, participation in collaborations within the AI Network Bavaria, particularly with thematically related networks, is expected. The successful candidate must demonstrate academic excellence through research, e.g. through publications in relevant, high-ranking journals and at renowned international conferences. The successful acquisition and implementation of competitive third-party funded projects as well as a high visibility in the international, scientific community are expected. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the further development of the new Faculty of Informatics and Data Science and play a key role in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. Relevant teaching experience must be demonstrated. The position is affiliated with the Department of Information Systems. Interdisciplinary cooperation with colleagues from other faculties is explicitly desired. Participation in academic self-administration and teaching is required. According to Art. 57 Para. 1 BayHIG, the prerequisites for employment, in addition to the general civil service employment requirements, are at least a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, special qualification for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, and additional academic achievements, which can be demonstrated by a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements, which can also be achieved outside the university sector, or within the framework of a junior professorship. The leadership of a junior research group constitutes an equivalent academic achievement under the conditions specified in Art. 98 Para. 10 Sentence 5 BayHIG.
