NEXT-GEN CYBER RANGE FOR TRAINING

Powered by European Digital Innovation Hub Trakia

About the training

The cyber range provides opportunity for hands-on training for a wide range of vulnerability assessment tasks, pen test tasks, demonstrating the fundamentals of cybersecurity, as well as when testing technology solutions. The EDIH-Trakia cyber range is tailored for implementation in the training courses offered by the Hub or as a stand-along L&D solution, which can be of use to other training institutions, enriching their learners’experience.

What you will learn

The cyber range instructor leverages a set of tools that allow the platform's capabilities to be used to deliver a full range of educational and training goals in the field of cybersecurity. They all contribute to the overall evaluation of users, based on their actions.

Training information

Cybersecurity training today is mostly done online and face-to-face training courses. But in both cases, learning is mostly done through live lectures or watching videos, as well as reading slides. As yet, relatively little time is devoted to practical training. Cyber ranges change this as they provide a convenient and more efficient way to deliver hands-on training as well as skill assessment and certification of experts. According to a Gartner analysis, in the near future 15% of large companies will use cyber ranges to develop the skills of their cybersecurity experts, up from less than 1% currently.

Cybersecurity training is largely based in academia, unlike the lifelong learning professionals go through after graduating from university. A recurring argument in support of this from industry is the lack of practical experience of young graduates. The main reason for this is the complexity of providing practical experience, while at the same time the educational value of university degrees is still sustainable.

Universities around the world are beginning to look at the cyber range as an effective tool to enhance the quality of teaching. In this regard, the cyber range as a service participates and is of utmost importance to the learning processes.
